【原文】

子夏曰：「大德不逾閑，小德出入可也（1）。」

【英文】

Zi-xia said, “If one does not overstep the bounds in major matters, it is of no consequence if one is not meticulous in minor matters.”

【注釋】

（1）大德不逾閑二句，大德、小德猶言大節、小節。閑，闌也，範圍也。

【翻譯】

子夏說：「人的重大節操不能超出範圍，在小節稍微放鬆是可以的。」

【主旨】子夏教人堅守大節，不拘小節。故小節不妨稍有出入。
